Wedding Preparation #1
Monday, 22 September 2014 | 20:56 | 0 comments

Decided to document down whatever is happening during my wedding preparation so that I can reminisce in years to come by☺Whoever is reading, beware that this post is full of words and little pictures.

So last Tuesday on 16 September 2014, boyfriend decided to pop the question to his family on our decision about tying our knots mainly because we don't want to get married when the date of keys collection for our new house is near to reduce the financial burden on us. I expected a NO answer from boyfriend's father because this isn't the first time boyfriend asked and he gave a NO as an answer for at least THRICE. Surprisingly, this time he finally said YES and obviously, boyfriend and I was elated. And from there, I started sourcing.

Initially we didn't want a customary wedding nor a wedding dinner. What we wanted was to just sign the ROM papers and go for travelling. In chinese, we call it Travel Wedding 旅行结婚. However, boyfriend being the eldest son, we had to no choice but to go ahead with customary wedding with wedding dinner but in a simpler way.

Everything in this post is what I want / may get but not confirmed.

Date

  • To hold a wedding, first thing to decide is to get the date fixed.

Mummy is a Christian and hence on my side, I don't have much to worry (I'm a free-thinker). We went ahead in our dialect way (We both are hokkien). We decided to ROM and hold the dinner on the same day to reduce any further costs. Initially I wanted it to be on the 9th May 2014, but however it was mentioned as an inauspicious date for wedding (according to boyfriend's family) and it clashes with Rabbit (boyfriend, I was born in the year of Monkey). Hence, I picked 27th June 2014.

This date is not 100% confirmed at this point of time because we still need to get it calculate see if it clashes with any of us.

Venue

  • Where do you want to hold your big day at
Even though I have always wished to have a lavish and luxurious wedding since young, but I have learnt that things don't always go along with what you wished because of the harsh reality. Hence we decided on a not too high but of course not too low venue, Qian Xi (Farrer Park) which is inside the Civil Service Club. Called up the person in charge and have been quoted already. What's left at this point is to go down to view the venue and put down the deposit of $2k. According to the pictures I searched online, it looks not bad. You decide ☺

  • What is a wedding without pictures/videos to reminisce in times come by
With my colleague's intro, I managed to get one at a reasonable price with every thing in from morning till night ☺ Haven't really talked to this person yet to I can't confirm also. But the price he quoted to my colleague is good lah ☺

So far that's about all. Will update further once there's any progress.
